You know what really grinds my gears? People who don't know how to walk through the halls. I feel that it's pretty standard that you walk on the right side of the hall. Its just like a road: to keep traffic moving, stay on the right and it will all be alright. While I can usually avoid the fools that walk down the wrong side of the hall, the doorways in the stairwells are a problem. there are two doors: a right and a left. If you are entering the hall, go through the right. If you're exiting, the left. Pretty simple, right?

Apparently not. Whenever the lazy students of Uni get a chance, we take the closest door. The problem is that when I exit the stairwell via the right door, the aforementioned fools take the close door (which is the same door that I go through) and I can't see them coming. If either of us is in a rush to get to class we end up colliding with one another and now nobody is happy. Mostly me though. This whole thing where I run into some subbie has turned into a huge pet peeve. Those that know me well could tell you that I'm easily frustrated. So, when somebody runs into me and drops their stuff, which is not my fault at all, I can either look like a jerk and keep walking (which I should do) or stop and help them pick it up. I'm also pretty selfish.

Another hallway problem I've encountered is the huge groups of people that block off the whole hall. This song explains my feelings: click me :]

For some reason or another, tons of new couples are popping up. To those new couples that haven't started the hand holding, don't make the mistake of being hallway stoppers. To those couples that have been together a while and do hold hands (hint: tahar), either walk faster or stop. The side by side, chained together by hands approach to going up the stairs stops me from getting up the stairs and forces me to watch you guys. No, I'm not jealous that you have a girlfriend, I just don't want to be stuck in the awkward situation of being behind you. Thanks tahar :]

Anyway, I'm sure I can find plenty of things that grind my gears to fill up this blog so stay tuned

  1. You know what really grinds my gears? Trolls on the internet. They say the stupidest, most ignorant crap I ever heard. Every time I see a troll's comment, I think "that's the stupidest most obnoxious thing I have ever read." You know what else grinds my gears? Fat ghetto kids. I don't wonder how they got fat (cause I know it's McDonald's), I wonder where they find pants big enough to sag over their fat asses. You know what else grinds my gears? The fact that this post is a reference to an episode of Family Guy and there is no picture of Peter Griffin anywhere! THAT'S what is grinding MY gears!!

  2. Haha this post is awesome. It annoys me to death when subbies and other underclassmen try to walk on the left side of the stairs. If only we could hire Ludacris to walk around with us...

  3. haha I totally agree with you Brandon. Sometimes I get annoyed enough to start ordering people around, like "No,you go that way because I'm going this way". You could try that, although it would make you look like a jerk.

  4. Nice post, I can definitely relate! I think part of the problem is that our hallways clog easier because people leave their stuff all over the ground. And I agree, it doesn't help when people seem too lazy to walk on the right side of the hall. If people just stayed a bit more organized, walking through the halls would be so much less frustrating!

  5. Ooops.
Now I know about the unspoken "right side" rule.

Okay, and people chewing loudly should be your next post. I would love... LOVE... to read that.

  6. The "walk on the right side" thing is pretty much a rule everywhere you go, hallways and stairways and sidewalks alike. At least in the US. In the UK, I imagine you're supposed to stay to the left.

I'm glad you appreciate Ludacris as an artist, but I do hope you don't look to him as a driving role model ;) (And if you haven't heard the first track off the new Girl Talk, this song plays a prominent role in the mashup.)

  7. Gah, I hate that so much. Especially the big groups of people in the middle of the hallways, just talking and obscuring traffic. My favorite way to counter this is to dive straight through the middle, preferrably while screaming "SCUZE ME!"

  8. Thanks so much for candidly talking about this issue. I hate it when it takes like 10 minutes to get up a flight of stairs. Also, one of the worst things is when you're trying to enter a classroom and there seems to be a wall of underclassmen blocking it chatting. Usually, I get so annoyed by this that I loudly say "excuse me" and just shove my way through them.

  9. I'm so glad that you brought up this issue! It's so awkward when you are rushing to class and then you crash into somebody because they are going through the wrong door. It's really sad how little common sense people have.

At least you're tall though. It sucks when you are the size of an underclassmen and are a senior, trying to push your way through :)

  10. Though I am a culprit of the whole "couples problem" (I would like to say im not one of the new ones), i do agree with you. I hate the underclassmen on the 2nd floor who run around getting in peoples way. Sometimes i wanna pick up the smaller ones and use them as a bat to clear the rest. underclassmen blow and should be annihilated. loljk...kinda...(that was a joke. but really, it is pretty hard to get trhough the 2nd floor)

  11. I completely agree. The second floor is the worst by far. A few times, I've been walking behind some freshman or sophomore, and they'll make all 3 errors of hallway walking. 1. Walking slowly. 2. Weaving from side to side, or just plain walking down the middle of the hallway. Because really, it's not like there could be anyone behind you or anything, right? 3. Stopping in the middle of the hallway to talk to friends. I hate walking in the second floor with a passion.
    Good post. :D

  12. Whenever this happens to me I just shout at underclassmen or barrel through whatever conversation is blocking up the hallway. Passing periods are too short to be wasted wading through the second floor. I'm glad you wrote this-- it makes me feel slightly less unreasonable for getting as pissed as I do when people get in my way. I enjoy your rants, keep on raging!
